The contract was concluded for the 2018-19 season. Dusan had 10-year experience of coaching in professional basketball. He was the head coach of the Serbian clubs KK Meridiana Novi Sad, KK Vojvodina Novi Sad, Spartak Subotica and FMP Beograd which was led to the national league and Serbian Cup finals in 2017. In July 2017 Alimpijevic was encouraged to became the head coach of the top Serbian club Crvena Zvezda. The team from Belgrade finished on 13th place in Euroleague (11 wins-19 losses) defeating the Euroleague champion Real Madrid at home (87-83), the Euroleague quarterfinalist Olympiacos Pireus (89-78) and the Euroleague Final Four Zalgiris Vilnius (77-65).

Crvena Zvezda confidently won the 2017-18 ABA League Regular season (19-3 win-loss record) but then lost 1-3 to Buducnost Poidgorica in the ABA League finals. After that, the Serbian powerhouse parted ways with Alimpijevic. This summer the Serbian coach worked in the NBA Summer League as a part of Dallas Maverics.
