Despite of the young age for a coach, Fomichev has a wide experience in the Euroleague and Eurocup clubs PBC CSKA Moscow, UNICS Kazan, BC Donetsk (Ukraine).

Last season he worked as an assistant coach in BC Sakhalin to become the Russian Superleague 1 winner. The Ukrainian had two-years experience to work in the VTB United league and Eurocup with UNICS and BC Donetsk. He achieved the 2013-14 Eurocup final in the coaching staff of UNICS Kazan. He also became the Russian Cup winner and the VTB United League bronze medal winner with UNICS in that same season.

The next 2014-15 season, Fomichev started as PBC CSKA scout and then headed Politechnika Lvov, the Ukrainian Superleague club.
