Carrera has "refuse to lose" mentality and is able to play any role from 2 to 4. He can cause mismatches offensively being quick and with reliable outside shot (during the last season his three-point shots' persentage was more than 40!). The Venezuelan basketballer had a fantastic feeling to choose positions for the rebounding activities. It allowed him to gain almost 8 rebounds averaging per game. Carrera had a tremendous wingspan (217 cm) for his height.

This spring Carrera finished South Carolina University. He has been selected in the First All-SEC NCAA championship by the coaches. His average stats of the last season in the NCAA were 14.5 points, 7.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.0 blocked shot and 1.0 steal for 27.8 minutes per game.

Not being selected on the NBA Draft, this summer Carrera participated in the NBA Summer League in Orlando and Las Vegas with Miami Heat. In 11 games, the Venezuelan scored 5.3 points, 3.6 rebounds and 0.9 steals for 17.6 minutes averaging per game. Avtodor is going to be the first professional club for Carrera.
