Avtodor outlasts SPM Shoeters in 2 OT, 108-107

Avtodor rallied from down 11 and eventually escaped with a win in a double overtime thriller on Tuesday night.


With the visitors trailing 77-68 late in the final quarter, Courtney Fortson scored 6 points during a 13-4 run to send the game into overtime. A few minutes later he knocked down a highly-contested 3-pointer to beat the buzzer, forcing another extra session. The Shoeters led by two in the second extra period, but Peterson's three put Avtodor ahead for good with 30 seconds left. Chris Denson missed a key shot on the next possession and the visitors sealed the win from the foul line.

Only six players scored for Avtodor in this game, and those players attempted 79 of the team's 82 field goals. Fortson had 26 points, which is his personal season-high in EuroChallenge play, and handed out 9 assists. Travis Peterson did most of his damage from long range, hitting 7 of 13 three-point shots. He totalled 25 points and 4 rebounds. Kyrylo Fesenko recorded his fourth double-double in the last six games finishing with 11 points and 14 rebounds. Alexey Vzdykhalkin notched 18 points, while Jeremy Chappell added 15 of his own. Micah Downs was 3-of-6 from deep and tallied 13 points off the bench.

Avtodor improved to 2-1 in Group K of the EuroChallenge Last 16.
