Courtney Fortson: December MVP (video)

Several factors go into deciding the MVP award: expert opinion from the league and Sport-Express newspaper, the players’ efficiency rating, as well as fan voting on the league website.

Fortson earned 9 points in the December MVP rankings, beating out Kalev forward Rolands Freimanis (7 points) and CSKA guard Aaron Jackson (5 points).

Fortson helped lead Avtodor to a perfect 4-0 record in December. The Russian club defeated Lokomotiv-Kuban, Krasny Oktyabr, Krasnye Krylia and Kalev.

The American guard put up some impressive numbers, averaging 19.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, 8.3 assists and an efficiency rating of 19.7 per game. He played one of his best games against title contenders Lokomotiv-Kuban, scoring 22 points to go with seven assists, five rebounds and an efficiency rating of 24.

Joining Fortson in the VTB United League's All-December squad, as selected by league and Sport-Express experts, are Avtodor center Kyrylo Fesenko, CSKA forward Andrey Vorontsevich, CSKA guard Aaron Jackson and Khimki guard Tyrese Rice.
